If you like a bit of history and some quirkiness with good food this is for you! First and foremost the restaurant is a steak house, buffalo or beef, and the portions are large. The bison burger is fantastic, as is the steak. We had a reservation on a Fri eve and while busy were seated promptly. We had a nice waitress who was attentive. The steak fries were spectacular. Very crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Some of the best I have had.

Historical building. Decor was on point. Restaurant was busy but we were able to sit at the bar. Atmosphere was quaint. Food was delicious! Onion soup, prime rib, porterhouse...all amazing.

We stopped for coffee and dessert at Tweed’s Restaurant, a Buffalo themed cozy restaurant in Riverhead. The chocolate bourbon pecan torte was a WOW!

During our stay in Riverhead for a wedding, we stumbled upon Tweed’s by accident. Although our hotel concierge suggested a few restaurants in another town, we decided to explore the local area instead. In our walk along the towns center, we came across Tweed’s, which immediately captivated us with its old-world charm and elegance.
Stepping into the restaurant felt like a journey back in time. With its chandeliers, grand mirrors, and a pianist providing the perfect backdrop of soft melodies, it was as if we had entered a classic saloon from a bygone era.
We chose to sit at the bar and enjoy cocktails while deciding on our next destination. Each of us picked a different drink. Two of our selections came from the summer cocktail menu.. the Spicy Margarita and the Mango Mojito, both of which were exceptionally tasty. The bartender, more of a mixologist, meticulously crafting each cocktail with great ease. She was also entertaining and attentive, sharing interesting details about the history of Tweed's.
As the evening progressed, the restaurant grew vibrant with the arrival of guests eager for a night of dining and music. We decided this would be the perfect spot to stay and enjoy a nice dinner with family and newfound friends.
The bartender carefully arranged the menus and asked us to open them simultaneously. To our delight, the menus were subtly backlit, highlighting each delectable option with a soft glow.
The menu offered a range of farm to table options, making it difficult to choose. We settled on oysters, French onion soup, Tweed's Salad, the bison burger, NY strip, and lobster ravioli. Each dish was fresh, delicious, and truly mouth-watering.
While you may have wanted more of a description of the food, I felt that this review should have been about the journey.
If you are ever in Riverhead, do not pass this gem! It's definitely one of the tops on our list!
